Should I still be feeling this way??

I gave birth to my son 7 1/2 months ago and I have been diagnosed with post partum depression. I feel so bad especially when my husband leaves for work. I can't stop crying I feel like everything and everyone is against me. I just don't know what to do anymore. I have seen a doctor as well as a psychiatrist but nothing is helping. I have been on more medicine than I can remember. I just need to know if anyone else is feeling this way or has felt this way in the past. I just really feel alone and scared. I could use all the support in the world right now but I can't seem to find anyone who cares. I'm just to the point now that I don't know how much more I can take. I don't have many friends anymore..mainly because they like to party and I have a baby. The more I think about the more I get depressed. Please help if you have been through this.

You need to find a post partum depresstion support group. Knowing that other people are going through the same thing, and its very common, there are all different levels of severity. Also, get a second opinion from another doctor. There will be someone to help you. You can get through this, your baby wants you to be happy.

I've been depressed before. You get your ups and downs. Don't worry about this happens to alot of women i know who had children. I know someone close to me that has happened to before. Things will get better nad you just have to be strong. If you go out or do something good..the better you will feel.

From what I understand, post-partum depression is caused by the severe drop in progesterone after the baby is born.
Before pregnancy, the average woman's progesterone is in the 1-28 range.
During the final weeks of pregnancy it goes to closer to 400. After the baby, progesterone, which was zooming at 400, drops too fast and you go into a deep dark funk.

Drugs like antidepressants won't change your progesterone levels, that's why drugs are not helping. You need to get some progesterone-- they make it in a cream form and you apply it to your skin.

My advice is to IMMEDIATELY see a reproductive endocrinologist if your OB/GYN doesn't offer you natural hormone replacement. You need not suffer like this.
