What is blue baby syndrome?

please explain with simple but detailed english

It's a congenital birth defect in which the child is born with the great blood vessels transposed. The child can't get enough oxygen to it's tissues, so it often has a bluish tint to it's mucous membranes and under it's nails even when at rest. As the child begins to walk, it is noticed that it tires readily and often can be seen squatting and appearing short of breath while other children the same age are busy playing hard.
There is a surgical procedure that can correct this situation, and it is done by age three.

It is basicly when a baby is born with a lower amount of oxygen in their body. This means that not enough oxygen is getting to the baby's brain, so their skin's coloring has a tint of blue. For african-american babies, you can't really see this.

Blue baby syndrome is just like it says...a blue baby...babies..just like adults...turn blue when they have lack of oxygen, due to a variety of illnesses.

This is the "layman's name" given to the medical term, tetralogy of Fallot. This happens when the babies have a malformation of the artery that would normally pump oxygen (like we all) to the lungs. You will normally find the older babies sitting in a squatting position so they can get their oxygen. You will see them with a bluish skin color, especially around the mouth and fingernails. Luckily, there is a surgery to correct this. When I was in nursing school, we were able to watch a movie about the surgery and it's a great movie if you'd like to watch - it's a true story. It's called "Something the Lord Made."

When the baby's blood has insufficient oxygen, it causes the skin to get a bluish coloration.

A blue baby is a layman's term for a baby who is born with health conditions that impair the delivery of oxygen to various parts of the body.
These conditions may include:
- Heart defects (Tetralogy of fallot, Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Dextro-Transposition of the great arteries)
- Respiratory defects (Respiratory distress syndrome)
- Methemoglobinemia (Inability of the blood to carry enough oxygen)
