Depression or postpartum?

ok heres da thing. i had my baby a 1yr 1/2 ago. i dunno if im just depressed or if its STILL postpartum depression. wen im alone wit my son i feel lonely. i want to hug him n kiss him n play wit him but i just caint get myself to do it. its been along time can it still be baby blues? i really need help. i feel like a bad mom for not wantin to spend time with him. wen he crys it annoys me. n it hurts me dat i dont pay as much attention as i should to him. im hes mother im suppose to love him play with him n i caint get myself to do dat. help wat do i do?

Try to get him into a moms day out program if possible. I never had a break from my oldest when he was born because his father was an #@#. Yes-it probibly is depression and you should get help immediately before it gets worse. I've been through it I understand. I started going to church to meet new people and to get a break while he was in the nursery. If you have a religion start going to church if you've not gone in while. Get out of the house--just going to the park 1-2 times will help-and you will meet other moms. If you have a mall in your town-put him in a stroller and walk around the mall to get out and get excersize. I started taking anti depressants-I had to try 3 different brands at different strengths to find the right one-a lot more people have clinical depression than you think. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Believe me-I've lived it. After 2 children.

You are so welcome-you are not a bad mother!!!! It gets better-I finally have. I met a wonderful husband-who gives me a break when I need it. Sometimes just going to wal-mart helps. Talk to your dr. if needed. It can and will get better-beleive me. Good luck-I wish you the best. Report It

There is no set limit to post partum depression...however, it can also develop into a dysfunctional bonding issue. I strongly suggest you seek professional help, a therapist or a psychiatrist that specializes in infant bonding issues. The longer you wait, the greater the potential for permanent damage not only to your relationship with your child, but to your child's psyche.

Year & half? Talk to your dr.

Maybe you need to take him to a babysitters for a day, do something relaxing for the day....then try the next day doing something with him active, like taking him in a stroller for a walk or to a park (even if he can not walk yet, sometimes it is relaxing to just be outside). If this doesn't work, I would do what the other lady said, call a doctor and find out what your options are. I think we all need a little "breathing time" once we bring the baby home.

baby blues and postpartum depression hits by the time the baby is 2 months old. i think yuo are suffering from regular depression. time to go see the dr. and get help!

yes it is postpartum depression still continuing , even my baby girl is 1 and 1/2 yrs now and i feel so low and keep fighting with my hubby for strange reasons, that his life is same but mine have changed so drastically after baby, i don't get time for myself. to even enjoy my bath, i just have to rush up with things and i feel soo low and sick . With disturbed routine. And i'm again expecting but not really enjoying my pregnancy , not taking any vitamins, i hardly care about myself any more. Everything seems like a burden.
Hey !! i guess we got to be patient.....these intial years are tough for everyone whoever has a baby, feel lucky that you have one . feel its a gift of GOD.

You need to get some help - and get it quick. Even though your baby is still young, he will surely be affected by your lack of attention to him. It's not your fault, but neither is it your childs. Don't let it affect him any longer. Go see your doctor, perhaps he can perscribe you something.

Maybe you just don't have a clue who you are anymore. This was me a while back and I found that it wasn't postpartum but it was that having a baby and being a mom, in the house all day, it just kinda takes your old identity away from you and you need to remember that being a mom doesn't mean you can't be you still. Life has just changed and you need to make adjustments. Try to get out of the house more. That way you an feel good about yourself and be a mother to your child. Go see a DR maybe you need an antidepressant to helop you get past this phase of adjustment. Whatever you do, do something. Your behavior affects your child at ANY AGE.
