Do you ever feel......?

just so depressed? i mean there's things i want, but nothing i need, glory to God. I had a beautiful, wonderful baby girl 2 1/2 mts ago, and i don't know if it's that post paturm blues or what. but i just feel so down. do you ever feel like that? like you're just so lonely, and down?

Hon, this is classic post partum depression that you are describing. That doesn't mean there is nothing you can do about it. There is. First and formost talk to your doctor about it right away. Sometimes you need a bit of a kickstart to get out of the depression, and a mild antidepressant may be in order to help your system even itself out again.
The more children you have, the more the depression tends to get. So keep in mind these blues you are having now and remember to tell your OB/GYN should you decide to have more children.
It takes at least 9 months for the female body to get back to normal after having a child, so don't feel that the depression is late in coming, it's about the right time. Don't be ashamed or upset by having this common ailment, many women don't know about it at all and are left to deal with these blues themselves.

Now steps you can take, to alleviate some of the loneliness and depression before you see the doctor... create a schedule for yourself. I know it sounds silly but it works. Of course it has to be moldable to the baby's schedule, but allow yourself at least an hour a day to get outside and get some sunlight, luxuriate in a hot bath... AND WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T WORRY ABOUT SHAVING AND ALL THAT IN THAT BATH. That bath is just for you. Do something that is JUST for you every day for one hour. Let the laundry sit an hour more, let the housecleaning wait for one hour, let dinner wait. Do this for yourself once a day when the baby sleeps.
Next step, get all your cleaning done in one big fowl swoop as soon as the baby takes it's first nap. As soon as the baby is snoozing, force yourself to go go go go until either the baby wakes up or your cleaning and such is done. Then, tend to little one and take your hour for yourself. Then all you have to do is little maintenance here and there throughout the day. Anything major can wait until the next day in your cleaning spree. This will give you a lot more time to yourself to call friends, get together with friends, or just curl up with a good book.

If and when the doctor gives you a medication to take, make it the thing to do just before you start your cleaning spree. That way you take it about the same time every day. We all know how babies mess up our own schedules.

But the first thing is first... get on the phone and make an appointment to see your doctor. THere is no reason to suffer with postpartum depression without help. It's nothing to be ashamed of and getting help is the best thing you can do for yourself and your little one. Oh... and if you don't get help and you do need help it doesn't go away. Trust me on this one, I am permanently on a very mild antidepressant because I didn't get help until after my 3rd one was born.

Take care of yourself and you'll be fine.

Mercy

Yes, very often too. I usually get over it with some chocolate and a nap.

every damn day . i deal with it by doign somethign that you woudl normaly say " aw i will never do that " .

oh yes! after both of my children I was very down....I believe it had something to do with post partum blues....I wish you had of give a little more info, like are you married or are you a single momma now....going through it alone....do you have support from someone?

Hang in there Vanessa. It very well could be Post Partum but you should consult your doctor. He may be ablr to prescribe something to get you back on track.. Congrats and good luck.

Yes, I've felt like that myself, from time to time. I hope you get over it soon. I use that time, sometimes though, to reflect on my life and my own behavior. It's a time for introspection and possible enlightment.

hey, i think you need some help and yes, that would be post whatever dum..and yes, i have been depressed, but not surrounding having a baby. go seek help! they have meds for that.!

O yeah, every day, but try to trust in the Lord, he has a future for you that is good

Yeah me and my boyfriend got in a huge fight today! GOD! Hey e-mail me and we can talk.

Everyone has times when they feel lonely or down...you can't feel happy and up all the time...that just isn't life.
However, if you are feeling that way all the time, please see you doctor to get some help to get you through. Postpartum depression needs to be treated and, fortunately, it is not a treatment that will last the rest of your life...it is a short term thing. Good luck!

Yes when younger, it's brain bad chemistry, in your case probably caused by the baby and circumstance, hang in there things will get better, maybe see a doc.

Have you discussed this w/ your doctor? If the symptoms of depression are lasting longer then 2 weeks it should be discussed w/ a doctor.

www.webmd.com >can give you more info. about post partum depression and depression in general. Good Luck & Congrats on your baby girl!

Remember,This too shall pass.It is only temporary.

you just may have post partum depression.talk with your doctor, they will understand and will help you.

I do...I feel like that a lot....but if its depression it doesnt mean that you have to have something happen in your life for you to feel down or sad...its just a chemical imbalance and nothing has to be wrong everything can be right....best thing to do is to go to the docotors and see if they can prescribe you something....it helped me out a lot.

Post partum. Tell your doctor. Also start exercising for 45 minutes every day. The endorphins released by exercise will help alleviate the depression

no not reaaly because i always have everyone around me n i hate it!!! well yea i also hav chocolate to lighten me up a bit.....i sugest u do the same

be happy sis, yes I do, but be strong, you are blessed you have a little beautiful baby in your hand.say think you lord for your love, for your gift, for each and every thing.

Yes, but don't feel awkward about it. Everyone goes throught this, especially us women. You're going to do awesome! Just take a breather every once in a while.... Trust me, it helps.

EVEN IF I DO FEEL LIKE THAT I DONT SHOW IT I BELIEVE THAT IF I SMILE EVERY1 ELSE AROUND ME WILL N THAT MAKES ME HAPPY I DONT KNOW Y LOL
