I have green eyes and my ex husband has green eyes....my son has brown eyes..? |
He is definately our son..lol..but people have commeted on his brown eyes...our other 4 children have green eyes...my dad has green and my mum has blue....My granny had brown eyes and my ex husbands mum had brown....am i right in thinking that me and my ex must carry a recessive brown gene each....people have said that we took home the wrong baby....def not the case....lol. Yes you are right! both of you guys are carriers of the recessive gene for a brown colored iris. In genetics, if both parents have a recessive gene (whatever it was) then they have a 25% chance for the recessive trait to come out (your son), 25% chance for the dominant trait to come out and 50% chance for them to be carriers of the recessive trait. Try googling "PUNNET SQUARE RECESSIVE" for a good look on it. If you wanted to prove that he is your son, a simple blood typing will solve it. Yes it is totally able that either you or your husband (or both) carry a recessive brown gene! You both could just be carriers of the trait. I studied all of this very recently and that is totally possible! Both my parents are really short yet my grandma, all her brothers are like 6 feet, so thats where I got my height from! you are right, genes passed on from generations ago can effect characteristics of children lol, eye colour isnt as simple as people think so yeah you both carry some degree of brown eye genes and it just so happens you son got the right combination to have brown eyes. ur prob right u prob carry it in u, when u were little u might of had brown eyes then his might change as he gets older OMG!!!! People saying you took home the wrong baby is SO STUPID!! I can't believe how thick some people are!!! My mam had deep blue eyes & my dad had dark brown I have green.2 sisters & 1 brother have blue my other brother has brown so theres only me with green I also inherited the red hair. It is natural and happens a lot. definitly the recessive gene coming out. it is very common especially with green eyes. my sons father has green eyes and i have hazel (more brown than green) and my youngest son has solid dark brown eyes. both my x and i come from a back ground of mixed blue and green eyed people so.... it just turns out that way sometimes. recessive gene...but honestly...does it even matter? he could have purple eyes and still be your son. the easiest way to answer this is to say its only two BLUE eyed people that cannot make a brown eyed baby cos blue is a recessive gene, all other eye colours can make all other eye colours!!! for instance two brown eyed people can make a blue eyed baby! my hubby has v light green eyes I have green eyes but they have a few brown 'tea leaves' in them. our daughter has v light blue eyes and my son has dark brown. The fact that someone in your family that you know definetly has brown eyes means that both you and your ex do carry that gene. Those other people just don't know what they are talking about. When they say that tell them he got those eyes from one of the brown eyed members of your family such as your granny and your ex's mum. I have a sister who looks like my uncle so if she can look like another member of the family then your child can carry a trait from another member of your family as well. Actually if you notice most of your children probably carry a trait from another family member as well. i think you better get on the jeremy kyle show! no seriously it could be passed doen from generations ago did you not know that? lol that's deffo not the case especially being that you guys have green eyes, brown eyes is dominant and passed down the most, green eyes are a mutation, you might have been meant to have brown eyes but of course the mutation happened and there was no guarantee your last child would have the same. |
