Does it make you mad when your doctor insists you be drugged for a procedure and you don't want or need it?

I had to have a colonoscopy done, and I argued until I was blue in the face that I didn't want to be sedated...I finally won the battle and got my way. I was awake for the entire procedure and except for about 2-3 seconds of very mild cramping, the whole thing was virtually painless.
My dentist always tries to either make me take novocaine or gas for dental work...and I always refuse, having your teeth drilled on, while isn't pleasant, isn't painful either.
When I went into labor with both of my kids, here comes the nurse with an epidural needle telling me to roll over on my side. They didn't even ASK me if I wanted drugs or not. I told her I don't want an epidural, I don't want drugs, and I especially don't want my baby to be born drugged....they almost tried to MAKE me take it. I screamed for my husband, he told the nurse to get away from me or he'd call security for harassment.
Why do people DO this? Some people DO have a high pain tolerance and don't need to be drugged.

I've learned one thing from this though, if you ever need to have anything done and have to sign a consent form, write in huge red letters "NO Sedation." I even wrote on my form that I was allergic to Versed (an evil mind-altering drug that is used for a "twillight sleep" sedation, erases you memory, doesn't keep you sedated for long, (I woke up 5 times during an endoscopy and almost choked to death leaving me with permant throat damage) and leaves you feeling voilated, and often results in chronic depression and severe almost crippling anxiety attacks. A drug that should have been taken off the market years ago...but they still use it to torture people having the comfort knowing that they 'won't remember anything.'
Warning...If you hear the words "You won't remember a thing, or this will calm you down".....RUN!!!!!"

They want to push the meds so they can charge more most are crooks you dont need them for colomoscopy or removal of anything they find, and you have the right to refuse anything you dont feel you need its not up to the doctor what and when you have any test done they are not gods even thought they act like it.

idk y ppl do that.. i refused sedation a mild one 4 my surgery (no big surgery) and the anestologist argued with me well in case we need to put u under we will.. i sed no u wont and thats that!! long and behold they couldnt do teh surgery unless they numbed the area..so i did that wasnt bad @ all took a lot of needles but wasnt bad!! However, I do not like going under either.. or any drugs..someone knows how much pain they can handle.. and if u feel pain during the procedure they will help.. but ones body knows what it can take.. Im with u on this one.. God Bless and Happy Holidays!!

No, it doesn't make me mad if a doctor insists I take the medicine to make a procedure easier even if I didn't want it unless it's a medication that I am allergic to.

i agree that some people don't need sedation but there are certain procedures that do .I have just had a replacement thumb joint and no way did i want to see them sawing out the old bone so i was out for the count . I also had a colonoscopy and like you was awake throughout without sedation .The next thing is the removal of polyps ,now for that they can put me out thank you

That does make me mad. I have gotten 2 fillings for cavities, and I personally hate the shot more than the actual procedure. For both they made me get Novocaine, and one time, it didn't work anyway. It didn't hurt, but I could definitely feel it, because it wasn't pleasant... They were like "OH WE CAN GIVE HER MORE" and I said hell no just finish and they said fine but were angry with me the rest of the time...Ugh. I've never had surgery, but damn, I don't want to "not remember" because that means it's hell until then... :/
