No periods!?

I started when I was 11 and had regular periods until 16, then I went 9 months without a period because I was on a form of BC that didn't suit my body well. I stopped the birth control and had regular periods until about 20. I am 21 now, and I only have a period once every 4-5 months, if I am lucky. I am using no BC, we are actually trying to get pregnant :) but obviously, ovulating once in a blue moon isn't the best for that plan. I have no pain, no cramps, no mood swings, nothing that usually signals my period is coming. When it does come, it last almost 2 weeks, stopping for a day or so every 3-4 days. What could be wrong with me? My gyno keeps telling me to go on birth control to try and regulate them, but we want a baby, and I am just so against waiting a year while I take BC.

I have the same problem...except i am not trying to get pregnant. What you should do is go on the pill for a while then go off. This does something to hormones and increase your chances of getting pregnant.. you should also keep a healthy diet and get enough rest over working your self will not help if you are trying to get your period back

I thin you should go to the doctor and follow their orders.

i have a condition known as poly cystic ovarian syndrome as you gyno to do an internal ultrasound they can diagnose from there but unfortunately the only way to control it is through the pill. your hormones may balance themselves enough in a few months for you to try falling again if you still have problems see a fertility specialist

I agree with the answer above me, it could be pcos. However there ARE meds you can take to help, ask your doc to do an ultrasound to help diagnose and then ask about a drug called metformin. And yes I would also suggest seeing a fertility doc
