Henoch-schonlein purpura?

My daughter is in Texas visiting my mother she wasn't feeling well so my mother let her take a nap and when she got up her poor feet were swollen and turning blue and had purple spots all up and down them she took her to the hospital where she found out she has henoch-schonlein purpura they have to inject steriods in her to help with the swelling I am trying to get to her but can not find any flights tonight I looked it up on the computer and found these horriable with these babies that have swores all over there legs I can't describe how bad it looked my quesetion is will she get these painful sores please if anyone can help in any way to answer my question

Both of my brothers got TTP (thrombocytopenia) which causes purpura and they're both okay now. I'm not sure if this is related to what your daughter has, but my brother got it at age 13 and again at 26. At age 13, he got big oval spots all over his body and had to go on medicine that made him gain alot of weight. I don't think the spots were painful, but I'm not really sure. He's normal again now. My other brother got it at about age 29 and had to be admitted to the hospital. Your daughter's doctor doesn't seem that worried, so try to stay calm. She'll be fine.

HSP has an entire continuum of severity ranges. It sounds like it was caught early and she is receiving appropriate care. The vast majority of cases do not cause any severe or long-term sequelae. Kidney problems related to HSP is probably the most life-threatening of all. The bruising sores look ugly and can be painful, but certainly she will be given pain medicine. Over a number of days to weeks these bruises go away completely.

In HSP, there is a triad of purpuric rash, abdominal pain and joint pain. The kidneys may be involved and there may be hematuria. Steroids are usually started if there is blood in the stools. It is an auto- immune, self- limited condition. Most patients recover completely. The symptoms subside in a few weeks. Hematuria may persist longer.
