Foot and Mouth, BSE, Salmonella.... What can we eat? |
Personally I never gave up anything during any of the food scares, I did however excersise caution in cooking or the source of my food. How about you? Yes you are right about the cooking. What beats me is that if you go to a posh restaurant they still insist on giving you half cooked meat. It used to be just beef but now its lamb and even pork. common sense , as with everything rules I;ve not stopped eating anything either. If we were to listen to every scare we wouldnt eat anything. YOU CAN EAT ME What food scare. The only problem with any of the cattle diseases is that now that the prats in Brussels have closed all the local abattoirs the problems of infectious diseases will increase. We should have told those dictatorial prats in Brussels that the old way with local abattoirs was the best as trucking cattle round the country moves the disease to parts not infected. However as none of them are farmers or even very intelligent the problems will continue. The best thing we can do is to get out of Europe and replace all the idiotic pratish laws from the continent with the more sane ones we had before 1970. I do not eat any animal that walks. I do eat seafood, I think fish generally is safer than meat. I would say I am smaller than I used to be, by about a stone, I am 8 and a half stone (sorry UK measurements there) and I feel great knowing what I eat will not fester and cause problems later. With that said I ate a lot of British beef growing up, and probably the cheap stuff too lol, I had a large family and the emphasis on healthy living was not like it is today! All over I feel better for ditching meat, I don't think we need it with all the alternatives, and they have to be killed before they hit your plate, that makes me feel more strongly, but I am not forcing my opinions on to anyone. If you must eat meat, boycott the big chain supermarkets, spend more money on local goods, fresh local farmers who are organic, they too are a dying breed because everybody expects meat for nothing. in the 70s I remember reading a certain professor saying the amount of preservatives being applied to all foods especially vegetables and fruit would have an adverse effect on us in a few decades and it would seem he wasn't too far wrong{}{} animals fed on dead carcasses could be causing some of the things you mention i would like to hear the truth about all this from vets who are not paid by the government. |
