Is anyone familiar with Avascular Necrosis? And What exactly is it? |
I have in my joints what the Doctors call AVN (avascular necrosis) It is caused by long term use of Steroids, caused by needing them for my asthma. It is very painful and I haven't been able to get a str8 answer from my doctors May be your Hip joint is affected and the head of the femur is having Avascular necrosis that decay of head of femur due to lose of blood supply. I have had AVN for 3 yrs..just had my 2nd knee replaced in Jan. I was given an idiopathic reason. try to keep the muscle strength in the parts that are affected strong, if you have to have the bone replaced at least your muscle mass will be strong enough to help you through therapy Report It Avascular necrosis is a disease resulting from the temporary or permanent loss of the blood supply to the bones. Without blood, the bone tissue dies and causes the bone to collapse. If the process involves the bones near a joint, it often leads to collapse of the joint surface. This disease also is known as osteonecrosis, aseptic necrosis, and ischemic bone necrosis. Check out www.mayoclinic.com and best of wishes to you. Take a breath, a deep one, |
