Avascular necrosis of the hip joint... any special diet?

i am a 44 year old mother of 3 children, recently my doctor has
diagnosed AVN disease in my hip joint(late stage)

i want to ask also if there is a special diet or food recommendations
that may help in healing, or at least in delaying the disease progress.

My son has perthes disease-which is the childrens version of AVN.
Foods high in calcium are good. You generally should have a good diet as any extra weight on the hip will cause the joint to wear faster. Also Glucosamine chondroitin(sp) has worked for some. It helps increase lubrication in the joints.

You should also be checked frequently to see if arthritis has set into the bone. My son is 11 and has moderate arthritis already. Anti-imflammatories can help if you do get arthritis.

I know it is extremely painful but frequent exercise actually makes the tendons stronger. A little bit is better than nothing.
