Avascular necrosis (aseptic or osteo necrosis)....have you had it or have it now? |
I'm just wondering...I was on the pill and smoked and have HepC and I HAD to quit the pill and smoking cuz they said that I have the AVN partly due to all of the above or else my HepC...they're all not sure, the docs that is. I get different answers from each of them. Anyone else out there have this disorder? I also have osteopenia....it's a precursor to osteoporosis....brittle thin bones...I'm 45 so this all should NOT be happening to me now! This is very absurd so I just don't get it.....any thoughts or knowledge about this? It's been going on for about 3 yrs now with the AVN and the osteopenia was dx'd just a week or two ago. Please, only serious answers...I'd appreciate it greatly! Thanks in advance. My hip and knee collapsed because of the dead bone. My right knee has AVN but it is not going anywhere....ie: it is not collapsing...but it still hurts on occasion. I will see my ortho in a year for my once/year appt. I live a *VERY* healthy life now....thanks to my good doc (GP) and my ortho and liver doc....I know all about HepC since I've had it since the early 80s...I already have cirrhosis but my LFTS are pretty normal right now..ie: INR is 1:1 and others are almost in range, whick is good...they say I'm holding my own so I need to keep doing what I'm doing I guess. Thanks everyone for your answers!!!! Well the docs are all right, you were living a very unhealthy lifestyle for a long-time, most sequella of smoking do not show up until later in life (20 pack years or so ie packs per day times years) and you were allowed to smoke while on birth controll which increases your risk of clotting through the roof. U also have hep C which can cause major desturbances in you bodies chemistry (enzymes) and protein/clotting levels. Any osteoporosis i will contribute to smoking since it is a huge risk factor. I hate to say this but you are a "TEXTBOOK" case of late AVN because you were in a hypercoaguable state with liver disease. I am sorry and I hope you still are able to live a happy productive life and overcome the day to day of this disease. Check in to alternate health practices. There may be some answers for you. The net has many web sites. |
