What will cause avascular necrosis in the hip joint?

1. Injury, such as a fracture.

2. Side effect of certain drugs, such as high doses of prednisone

3. Underlying condition that can cause blockage of the small blood vessels that nourish the femoral head (the ball of the ball-and-socket joint).

I'm not sure if it was avascular necrosis or not but I had necrosis in the left hip. My cause was Legg-Perthes disease. I would think if a doctor told you you have avascular necrosis that they could have told you the cause. May need second opinion.
