Severe Hip and Knee pain?

I pulled my groin several weeks ago, witch seemed to get better. Then two weeks ago I was standing holding my baby when I felt a pop in my hip, I hit the floor. It was the most excruciating pain i had ever felt. Ever since I cannot walk normally, my hip and, even worse my knee, get these sharp shooting pain that feels like I'm being hit with a lead pipe. Sitting or taking weight off of the leg releives the pain but I have to work and my job won't let me clock in if i have crutches. I have seen an Orthopedist, however, after an X-ray and an MRI (including a huge needle being inserted in my hip joint) the doctor has no answers, however, he has mentioned Avascular Necrosis or possibly a hairline fracture, but nothing solid. So before I let them stick me with the Space needle again I just wanted to see if anyone has ever heard of this or has experienced this. Thank you.

I doubt it is a fracture as this pain would have been there since you pulled your groin. And a fracture that is older shows up better on X-ray. This is a stumper, but a disease process is not out of the question. Avascular Necrosis is a possibility although this is rare. There are some risk factors associated with AVN like drinking, smoking, taking steroids, scuba diving and a couple of others I cannot remember. Even the AVN won's show up until later on. If this continues then I would think a bone scan would show if there is anything going on, but it will not give a diagnosis just that there is increased uptake at the hip. You may want to mention this to your doc. Based on what you wrote, I would wait before I went to a chiropractor, if you went to me I would not work on you at this point,as I said this is not typical.

i would check out a chiropractor for hip problems. it could be that you dislocated something slighly the first time and the weight and position of the baby put more pressure on the weak area....causing a real problem. A chiropractor looks for different things than an orthopedist. He is looking for a disease or something to operate on.
I believe a good chiropractor may be the best next step. I would go to somene you trust or try www.advbiostructuralcorr.com and hit; locate a doctor.
Good luck!
