Red gums & autoimmune diseases?

My son has very red gums and the dental hygenist says she's he doesn't have gingivitis and she's only seen gums like this in people with autoimmune diseases. He has suffered from stomache aches for years. Does anybody know what autoimmune disorders are linked to red gums?

The following autoimmune diseases have oral symptoms:
Pemphigus: patients are usually over 40
Erythema Multiforme: patient are usually young adults (20s-30s)
Lichen Planus: mostly middle-aged adults, very rare in children.
Psoriasis: start at second or third decade of life.
Lupus Erythematosus: mostly women, avg. age is 30
and there are couple more.
please note that these disorders are very rare, and mostly in adults, and they have more advanced symptoms than inflamed gums.
sometimes simple things like mouth breathing can trigger severe gum inflammation.
to get definite diagnosis, it's a good idea to schedule him with a periodontist (gum specialist) for evaluation. diagnosing autoimmune disease certainly needs a specialist.
Good luck

I'd check with a different dentist or see a doctor.
