Is meningitis an autoimmune disease? No. No, it is an infection caused by a viral/bacteria agent. Autoimmune diseases are not contagious. Nope. It's usually caused by either a virus or a bacteria of the Neisseria species. meningitis is and infection of the brain I don't think it is an autoimmune disease. but having a weak immune system leaves you open to more infections? good question No, not to my knowledge--it's a bacterial infection. You get it from dorm rooms usually. Enclosed spaces shared by a lot of people. Why worry about it, get the vaccination for it. yes. and it is very serious. yvonne p |
