What is an autoimmune disease? Give two examples.? An autoimmune disease is a disease caused by the immune system of the patient attacking parts of the body. Type one diabetes, lupus, rheumatic fever, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Antibodies form and attack one's own tissues. e.g. Rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyositis, polyarteritis nodosa. ..I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA,YET TO BE TESTED FOR LUPUS AND OTHER AUTO IMMUNE DISEASES.fIBROMYALGIA CANNOT BE TESTED FOR BUT TESTS SHOWED MY IMMUNE SYSTEM ATTACKING ITSELF>>>BLOOD CELLS ATTACK EACH OTHER<COMPLETE WARFARE!
