What kind of doctor do I see for MGUS an autoimmune disease?

I have just been diagnosed with MGUS and want to see a specialist in that field.

A diagnosis of MGUS basically just means that there is a particular type of protein in your blood - the "US" part actually stands for "undetermined significance." My understanding is that MGUS itself doesn't cause any symptoms that would require treatment, so it's mainly a matter of what associated conditions you might have.

Since it's an autoimmune disease, you might want to see an immunologist who has experience with autoimmune conditions.

MGUS can cause damage to the peripheral nervous system, although it doesn't always. For PNS problems, you'd want to see a neurologist.

About 30% of patients with MGUS develop multiple myeloma, a type of cancer, within 25 years. MGUS can also progress to at least four other types of cancers. These would be treated by an oncologist.

Great, the one thing I didn't find anything about :) Joint and muscle problems are most often treated by a rheumatologist. Report It
