Why am I getting night sweats?

I am 34, had a baby 3 months ago (bottle fed) and have 3 autoimmune diseases (MS, Crohns, IC). I have been having night sweats and sweating spells during the day for 2 months which have been getting progressively worse. Doc did CBC and TB test and it showed nothing - no signs of infection, swollen glands etc. Doc said - sorry my dear you are just a sweaty person - I don't want to believe that I just all of a sudden became a person that sweats all day and all night off an on. Any other suggestions as to what it might be?

I have a very good idea what your night sweats and sweating spells may be caused from. You said that you have been diagnosed with 3 auto-immune diseases. I also have the same problem but different types of systemic auto-immune diseases. They are all very similar in that the immune system is very aggressively attacking your own body as if it were something foreign. That produces a great deal of inflammation. Has your doctor run a SED rate and C-Reactive Protein test on you? It will show the doctor that there is inflammation in your body and give him an idea of how severe it is. I not surprised at your doctors reaction as so few doctors seem to know next to nothing about auto-immune diseases. It takes the patient to take charge of their health and do as much research as possible, for all the 5minutes that most doctors spend with you in an exam situation. I have almost constant night sweats and chills alternating, with sweating that will occur when doing next to nothing to cause it. I have never been a sweaty person in my life. It is the over reactive immune system as it is attacking the autonomic nervous system which control body temperature and the inflammation that your body is producing. Auto-Immune diseases use up all the energy supplies that your bodies cells can produce making you get progressively sicker. It would also be to your advantage to be tested for mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria which also causes auto-immune diseases as does other types of bacteria that are tick-borne. Please try to get tested for all these things. You did not say how long ago you were diagnosed with the auto-immune diseases. Lots of Research starting with the types of auto-immune diseases that you have including the information in this email, and it should get you on the right track for what steps to take next. I am on long term anti-biotic therapy (Doxycycline) after being treated for several years with all types of horrible treatments that caused even more serious health problems. So far this is the best route for myself, I just wish I had known about it before I was given high levels of prednisone, chemo-therapy, Remicade etc. So know I have a serious problem with allergic reaction to those drugs known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Avascular Necrosis in both hips from the prednisone and other treatments on top of several types of auto-immune diseases. All my best to you with your health problems.

I think it's just plain stress. I mean, you just had a kid and to top it all off, you have 3 diseases to worry about not to mention work and maybe your boyfriend/husband (If you and the father are living together)

I think all you need is just a vacation.

go see a doctor.good luck.

it could be a medication, hormones and sleep apnea

It sounds like your hormones are out of balance. Did he or she run blood tests?

Night sweats are a sign of Menopause so it might be the hormones
