Okay i need a really mature person who has some knowledge with stomach problems who will not make fun of me!? |
okay i have had really bad stomach problems eversince i was born. in december of last year my mom finally took me to a different doctor to see what is wrong. i have celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease. that means that i could not properly digest my food. so i was constantly having a stomach aches, bloated, and gassy. usually it is because i eat gluten and thats what causes it. i felt good about a month after i found out and started eating the right foods. ever since school has started though i have been feeling really sick every day. like really gassy. i hate it. so embarrassing. i have a really hard time. i hate it. my bffs know about my disease so they dont make fun of me. i am eating the right foods and everything. but i am still feeling gross. i eat extremely healthy but i still feel gross. i am going to see a doctor in a month because that is the closest that i could get him. i am not backed up or anything like that. sorry tmi. if you can tell me some things that i could try in the mean time it would be greatly appreciated. oh and i am not stressed, or having really bad ancxiety so i know its not that. i am not totally asking for full medical advice on this one just some help if you can give it. thankyou and please do not be immature. Hi! I have the same thing too. I know how you feel, i've only known about my celiac for almost 2 months. I'm 16 and a freshman in college. I know it can be pretty embarrasing on the days when you're feeling bad, bloated, and like a gassy mess. My guess is that you're probably getting cross contaminated. Have you replaced your cosmetics, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lip gloss, pots, pans, spoons, tupperware, toaster oven, washcloth for kitchen stuff...and the sort? That was a problem with me for a while, but I started feeling better after replacing those items. How long have you been off of gluten? Your stomach won't heal for about a year, and your symptoms will go away after a couple of months. I've only been off for 2 months, and there are days (such as today) that I feel yucky. I keep getting CC (cross contamination). Have you considerd that you might be lactose intolerent too? Some celiacs have problems digesting milk as well in addition to gluten until the gut heals. I have that problem as too. Try getting off of dairy for while & see if you improve. Also, look into the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes). I can't eat potatoes, my body thinks that they're gluten :( Soy, corn, and rice can be other offenders too. Another thing, beware of the foods you are eating. Many foods have things with natural flavorings, colors, and the like. THOSE CAN CONTAIN GLUTEN! Join celiac.com! They have message boards for celiacs, recipies, info, and such. Watch out at resturants and schools too. Most places will coat things in gluten, fry in the same fryer as gluten, or season in gluten. BUY The gluten free bible. You can get it at borders or barns&noble. It will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. Look up a list of gluten foods to aviod and keep it in your purse. Read lables and within doubt call the company. I had a horrible CC w/some of the salt I was using. YES, SALT! lol. Sorry this was so long, but good luck, love. Hope you feel better and don't hesitate to ask any questions :) Are your consuming carbonated drinks or dairy products. If you are eating dairy products you maybe lactose intolerant. You need to watch EVERYTHING you eat and drink. Some juices can even contain gluten so be sure you check everything you eat. Lots of meds contain gluten in their makeup so talk to your pharmacist about getting a list of meds that contain gluten or don't contain gluten if they can get you one. Consider eating yogurt with live active cultures if you can to keep your digestive flora healthy. You should be bringing your lunch from home at school as many of the things at school could have gluten in them. Check ut the vitamins and herbs if you have an outlet in your town. Bean z may help, not sure about the action, but a friend swers by it and it relies the bloated feeling. Lots of folks have it so check out the net and drugstore. Han in there. Hey, Maybe there is a hidden culprit that you don't know you are eating. I'd investigate that further. Ok, you are not alone. If you go to a health food store, they can tell you about different food products that are targeted for people with celiac disease. I don't have celiac, but I have found some wonderful crackers that the box said were good for people with celiac. You also can find wonderful advice for all kinds of medical conditions on WebMd or the Mayo Clinic site. You might be able to find a book or articles in the library on it, too. The librarian can help you. The really good thing is that now you know what it is, you can start to learn how to avoid things that cause it, which is a whole lot better than when you had no idea. I hope you are being very careful in reading labels and what you eat -- you will be amazed at how many things have gluten in it that you wouldn't think would. Things like soup and candy can have gluten, not just bread and pasta. But there are non-gluten pastas and stuff. There are good alternatives out there, you just have to learn what they are. you should go to this website----- Illness is not for fun, if you have health problems, THERE IS NO REASON TO LAUGH AT IT First stay away from dairy products. Drink Non-fat milk only. Less Pizza too. Eat a lot of non-complex carbohydrates food - less sugar. Gas is a form of acid that was from soda, alcoholic beverages and some meat. Beef has a lot of acid - count how many of these meat you are eating in a week or in a month. Actually pork and chicken does have a lot of acid too, but beef has the highest number of acid in it. Try to do a regular exercise that will make you bounce. Jumping rope, jogging or running something like that so that your system will make your food to be aligned in your intestines and can be digested evenly, Celiac disease means the absorptive surface of the small intestine is damaged by gluten. This results in an inability of the body to absorb protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals etc. It is an auto-immune disease, meaning your anti-body attacks your own system (in this case, digestive). There are almost 1% of population in North America having this problem, mostly female. Given that it has started since you have been back at school, the most likely suspect is that you are eating or drinking something that you expect is safe, but actually contains gluten. First of all i want to say I'm sorry your feeling so bad. I was diagnosed 15 months ago with celiac went gf immediately and it took 13 months for my symptoms to finally stop. Make sure if you take lactase that it's in a capsule and not a tablet, it makes a difference. You may have other allergies that are causing your symptoms. I get sick if I eat eggs or if I'm exposed to mold. The latter can make me worse than eating gluten. Hope this helps.Best Wishes. |
