AUTISM,and vaccines,and penicillin.?

In the 1940s' autism was first diganosed in a group of children observed by two doctors-Dr.Kanner and Dr. Aspergers. However there were no vaccines in the 1940s',vaccines was first given in 1964.Therefore vaccines are not the cause to autism. However in the 1940s' another medicine came to light and that was penicillin.Hmmm. 1940s' first diganoses of autism and penicillin was first given to people also.My thought-could penicillin be the cause to autism? I do feel autism is genetic, however I now wonder because my husband ask me when was autism first diganosed and I said in the 1940s' and my husband said penicillin was also given to people for the first time in the 1940s'.So this is the question to everyone:
Do you think penicillin causes autism? Wheather it's penicillin or cousins to penicillin.

You're assuming that since it was first DIAGNOSED in the '40s, then that's when it STARTED. Not true. It likely had existed for centuries, but it took until the '40s for someone to put things together and give it a name.

I strongly belive Autism has been around for as long as NT lol
in otherwords from the beginning of time. Report It

i don't really know but if you are deciding about whether to vaccinate your child or not i would do some serious research. Serious serious research. Talk to conventional and non conventional doctors and contact your local autism agency. If this is just a for interests sake question I'm not really sure but i have my suspicions. ( i know penicillin in not a vaccination)

Dr. Asperger would have been in Austria, part of the Greater Reich at the time and therefore probably unaware of the existence of penicillin, invented by an Australian working in the UK. Penicillin was used on Allied troops in WWII but I doubt that it got into Nazi Germany until 1945.

I don't think you can make the assumption that penicillin "causes" autism. Could the be a correlation? I don't know. I would guess that many of the children diagnosed with autism have not had penicillin before the time of their diagnose it. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there probably is not ONE cause for autism. There are probably many factors that bring about autism. Maybe all of the things that people suspect cause autism play a little part in the cause.

Here's a thought, maybe teflon has something to do with autism. Considering that research has shown that 100% of people in America have teflon in their bodies. Not that I really think that, but if we're going to throw out speculations....there's one.

Autism is different from Down syndrome.

I think autism is a mental sickness(of which the sufferers themselves were not aware of) and can be cured or improved by certain steps, but definitely not medicine.

An autism sufferer may have high IQ but it may not be so with a Down syndrome patient.

Rock and Roll music, NATO, and the United Nations also came into existence in the 40's - they must have a hand in autism causation as well by your reasoning.

In all seriousness, please think before you pose such ridiculous theories without anything to back it up.

Thanks for the laugh.

This question is full of factual errors: vaccination for smallpox was common before 1940, as were vaccinations for Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus (DTP shots). Autism does seem to have a genetic link but with one or more environmental triggers (both members of a set of identical twins do not necessarily have autism if one does). There is a known connection between the likelihood of having autism and where a person lives for the first fifteen years of their life which doesn't change if a person moves from where autism is less common (tropics and semi-tropics) and where it is more common (northern temperate zone). I have never heard it suggested that there might be a link between the use of penicillin and autism. I urge anyone who thinks there is something "odd" about their child to contact the Autism Society in their state for information about diagnosis and treatment. Don't wait! The earlier a child is diagnosed the more effective treatment interventions will be. Autism is a life long condition; children do not "grow out of it", but their ability to function in society can be greatly improved with early intervention. If the child does not have autism, it may be possible for the experts at the Autism Society to direct the parent toward where effective treatment can be found: the child may have a hearing problem, for example.

The connection is not with vaccines it is with the Mercury in the vaccines + genetics. The medical community was trying to solve the problem with some parents not bringing their children in for vaccines in the timely manner. For what ever reason, money, transportation, working single parent , etc....
So they started giving all the vaccines all at once. Sometimes in just 2 visits instead of 5. The genetic factor + the heavy does of Mercury = Autism.
Parents should continue to vaccinate their kids but they should insist on Mercury free vaccines and they should go back to getting the shots in 5 visits not 2
I know this because I am living it.
I know that not every one will agree and I am not trying to ruffle any feathers. I am just trying to get the best possible answers for my son and so far that seems to the one that make the most sense.

Vaccines have been around since the late 1700's. I'm sure Autism does have something to do with genetics. I'm also sure that it has something to to with giving your child vaccinations that are full of chemicals. Mercury causes brain damage. Mercury is still in the Flu shot. Basically that is why my 2 healthy children are vaccine free.
