Relations to Autism? |
does anyone know of a quality place where kids with severe autism can be watched when their family goes on vacation? yes we've done the same thing at disney with great success. Check with the mental health department in the city or county that you live in. They may be able to provide respite care for your family during the time that you are going abroad. You may also want to see if there is a local ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) or POAC (Parents of Autistic Children) - they may have a listing of individuals who would be willing to watch your sister during the time you are away. I live with it and don't know what you mean. We don't go places that we all can't go to. Many vacation spots are very accomodating to those who are autistic, though so you might want to check with them. We went to Disney last year. We all got passes because our son doesn't do well in lines and our longest wait for any ride for the whole week was only 15 minutes. It was the best vacation ever. You should give it a try. |
