Has any one here been misdiagnosed epileptic? What was the results of taking the perscribed meds? |
My son was misdiagnosed and was given Zonegram. This medicine worked on the frontal lobe. It caused him to be lethargic, stutter to the piont where we couldn't understand him among other things. Now he has been diagnosed with Asperger's - a type of Autism. Asperger's, at least my son's, is located in the same area of the brain. Does anyone have a simular story or does anyone know if the two can be related? I was misdiagnosed with bipolar depression. I took a variety antiepilectic meds for a handful of years... 'til I was finally rediagnosed with ADD (the symptoms in my case were similar). Quite often a mood stabiliser is prescribed. Eg. Sodium Valproate which is used to treat epilepsy and other types of fitting disorder can also be prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, or indeed a variety of conditions that need a medication to alter mood/behaviour. |
