Is my son autistic? |
my son has a excellant memory and reading skills yet is prone to fits he was deaf for 3yrs also lives in own little world. Could he be showing sighns of some form of autism? Firstly, I would recommend a complete medical evaluation for your son so that you can get the appropriate referrals. The main symptoms of autism typically present themselves during social situations. Does your son seek out human contact e.g cuddles with you etc.....? Does your son avoid eye contact? Is he awkward in social situations? Does he get VERY upset when a routine is broken? You also need to take into account that he did not hear for 3 years. The world of hearing, auditory processing may be overwhelming and frustrating him. I hope that you get some valid answers for this concern. Best of luck to you and your son. yeah it sure sounds that way.maybe mild but he sure has some symptoms. what does your pedia say?....my son was deaf for 2 1/2 years (needed tubes) and then it took a while for him to break his old habits (from not being able to communicate) but he eventually did and now hes normal...good luck!...just remember your son appears to be in his own world because hes so used to being there for so long.....three years is a long time to a little guy! Hm... if he has reading skills its not full blown autism. it maybe fragile x or asbergers |
