Entrocolitis!!?

Hi , my son has autism and has a bad reflux problem ,
and it seems to be affecting his behaviour , do you think it might be entrocollitis thats causing the problem, and yes i am going to take him to see his doctor first thing tomorrow .

No
entrocollitis actually "enterocolitis" occur in both small and large intestines
Probably he have something called "esophageal achalasia"
it is important to tell the doctor if his case improve by antiacids
or not

'Autistic enterocolitis' is a term described by Andrew Wakefield (British Gastroenterologist) where he relates certain bowel disturbances to autism. His studies have been highly criticised however and there is no firm evidence of a link between the two. If your son had enterocolitis I would expect him to have abnormal bowel function i.e. chronic constipation or diarrhoea and likely abdominal pain as well. You don't mention if he is on any treatment for his reflux, maybe this needs to be addressed or adjusted?
