What son is already 3 and half years old and he is still not talking straight (baby talk)?

Is this a sign of autism, is my son normal?

it is not "what" but "My", sorry for the grammatical error. Just submitted the question without reading it. :)

Do you have an older daughter also? Girls verbal skills enhance musch quicker than boys -- but you should certainly have him checked by a doctor. What you consider normal and what the doctor will be able to tell you are different. There is a range of "normal" -- he could have a hearing deficit, a speech impairment or be just a little slower than average but fine for overall development. Only a professional will be able to tell. If seeing a doctor is too costly, you can apply for medicaid for kids - even if you don't qualify he would -- or you can visit a community health clinic for a sliding fee. You are not a poor parent and it shows in that you cared to ask at all. Good for you. Visit your doctor and learn what you need to know for sure so he can get the services he needs NOW so he'll be prepared later. Good luck!

No, it's a sign of lazy parenting. Just don't respond to him unless he says things correctly. If he really wants something, he'll say it.

Have him checked out by a doctor, and fast. Without knowing your son I can't tell for sure, but that doesn't sound normal.

??????????????

If you have concerns you can get a referral from your doctor or a Social Worker to have him assessed. Boys are sometimes slower with language...

Does he have wide-set eyes or other abnormal facial features? Autism is a possibility, but so are many other disorders. I think you should see a family doctor or pediatrician. If they are as concerned as you are, they might refer you to a genetic counselor to have him checked out. If you do this as soon as possible, there's a better chance that he can be properly treated so that he will not be further delayed in his abilities.

May be visiting a doctor is a good idea just to discard the idea of something wrong but mean while you can try not responding to baby talk to force him to talk correctly. Also you have to talk to him as a grown up because if you talk him in baby talk that's the way he will respond

My son is similar. Took him to a speech therapist 1X who said he could benefit but would probably grow out of it. She based that on
1. His older brother was slow to develop and now normal
2. Parents HX and speech
3. His ability to understand well
4. His being very social

However, she encouraged monitoring and to come back of he didn't improve (she was vague about what that means).
Good luck to you. I know it can effect bonding and cause frustration for child and parent.

he probably has nothing to say. stop talking gibberish to him and use standard english,do you really know what autism is? don't start attaching labels. have his hearing checked and leave testing to the experts.he probably needs speech theraphy.check with edu.dep't for free testing now. relax he will be ok.

Speak to him clearly and as you would any other person . keep working with him and converse with him daily, he is old enough to understand you, some children develop this area later than others. I think if you love him and take some time with him you will see some improvement. keep talking!

To rule out all fears see a doctor... However, my children all spoke at different ages.. My grandson didn't talk very well at all at 3. He is now 5, the top of his pre-school class and never never shuts up.. he's adorable.
I have seen autistic children as a teacher and most don't talk at all. If your little one is babbling, it's probably just a matter of time before he starts talking. Then you won't remember a time when he didn't.. Like I said if your concerned see a doctor.. Don't worry..
