Is he too old to have a baby? |
I am 21yrs old and have been with my 39yr old partner for nearly 4 years. Lately we've been discussing marriage & eventually having a family. I am happy to get married, but wasn't planning for kids for maybe another 3 or 4 years. I am worried, however, about my kids having an older father as I know what its like for the child (both my parents were in their mid-to-late 40's when they had me), plus I am worried about higher risks of autism, schizophrenia, miscarriages etc for the baby from having a father over 40 and also whether he will be be able to keep up with the physical demands of having young kids. How old is too old for man to have a baby? You have plenty of time, because you're only 21. There is always a risk that your child will have a problem. However, most of the risk is related to mother's advanced age (over 35) and not the father's. That being said, nobody can give you a better advice about the father's advanced age than yourself since your both parents were older. Do realize that your future husband not only has to keep up with your young child, but also with you. new studies show that even men after 40 can increase the risk of the same birth defects old eggs experience Report It Men don't have babies he is not to old There's no such thing (medically) as a man being too old to produce children. There is also nothing medicinally wrong with the sperm in older men as opposed to younger. As for his ability to interact, that depend on how healthy he stays as he grows older! If you're really that worried, maybe you should consider changing your 'plans'? Men usually don't get too old unless they are REALLLy old.he is definitely able to have kids, but only a doctor could say for sure how long that window will stay open. risks are usually associated with the age of the mother Some men are still producing at 70. In 4 years your man will be 43. When your child graduates high school, he will be 61. Graduates college about 65. If he is relatively active and remains so, he should be able to keep up with a child and a teenager. Well, On the average, older men (40ish) make much better fathers than young guys, as they are more mature. The danger of genetic defects is only from older mothers, so don't worry about that. You will need to start a savings plan now so your child will have college money even if your husband retires before the child starts college. |
