Misdiagnosos of Aspergers syndrome?

This is a follow up to a question I had asked yesterday about possibly anxiety disorders that maybe affecting me.

I have been diagnosed with several learning disabilities before after my parents had found my brother and sister to have severe autism I was pegged with having Aspergers.

This bothers me because the more I read about it the more I see it doesn't sound 1 damn bit like me. I am a little shy and do
have some qwirks but I have no problem talking to other people if I have to. I'm just shy.

I can't seem to find anything on line about people being Misdiagnosed with Aspergers and with Austism being the next big Lets pretend we care trend I'm sure alot of people are being misdiagnosed with Autistic disorders. Myself included

I've had episodes where my brain can't properly process time and it flies by too fast causing me to shut down. Some times after vists from close friends and family and they leave I feel very depressed almost overwhelmed. I'm pretty clingly to people I care about and scared something will happen to them.
I have no self confidnece but at the same time Know I can do anything. it's a weird sensation. I discorage easily Have no real motovation. I'm extremely paranoid and just every now and then feel down and lonely.

None of these seem to fit anywhere with in aspergers. They just say it's part of it but I swear there's some bigger picture being ignored just because My Brother and sister have severe austism and pegging me with some type of it is the only way to explain why they have it.

I feel like I'm a victem of some agenda to make autism seem more common than it really is. But I dunno all I know is I'm almost 100% I've been wrongfully diagnosed with a disorder I didn't have to begin with

Here's a start ...

... in terms of examining the idea of mis-diagnosis.

Ok, the first thing is that people with Aspergers generally know that they have it, that they are different, that they think differently, and very few of them would deny they have it. Just by that observation alone, I don't think you have Aspergers syndrome... if you did, you would be more like "i am different, i have autism, accept me the way i am" kinda thing. Look, it's really hard to explain what I mean in words.
Everyone is quirky in some sort of way, doesn't mean they automatically have an autism spectrum disorder. You probably have a couple of characteristics of asd, but so does every neurotypical person i know. For example, I'm always lining things up, and I have a few sensory issues where i hate touching certain fabrics, i have trouble filtering out background noise etc. doesn't make mean i have Aspergers.

I'm just curious, how old are you and how were you diagnosed? Did a diagnostic team ask your parents, or did they observe you and ask you the questions?

I have aspergers too. I wasn't diagnosed until last year. I spent several months in denial, but in the end, I finally accepted it. Aspergers is basically autism with an above average IQ. High functioning autistics that aren't aspies generally fall in the normal IQ range.

Autism is genetic so with two siblings that have it, its almost a sure bet that the person who diagnosed you is correct.

So are you really shy, or are you afraid to say something for fear that it will be taken the wrong way? The latter is true for me.

I don't like crowds but I don't fear them. Consequently, I hate to drive (we have crowded roads here) but love to fly small private planes. Flying a helicopter is also good for curing depression. Its the sense of danger that does it.

So, my advice to you is to start learning as much as you can about the disorder, recognize your own habits as being symptoms, and to consciously negate them. Do you have rituals? Do you collect junk (Bottle caps, etc.)? Do you tend to say stuff out loud that other people don't? Do you blurt out the truth even when it is harmful to someone? (i.e.-When a girl asks if you like her dress and you say 'No').

The list goes on.
