What do you think of a mandated flu vaccination for those under 19?

They might madate something but that does not mean that it is mandatory. In the US every state has some kind of exemption, either for religious, medical, and/or philosophical reasons. So if that was mandated for me or my family, I would sign a waivor form. The adult dose of the flu shot has mercury in it still.

That is a stupid idea. Flu shots are a waste of time and money for everyone except the extremely old and the extremely young. All these vaccines do is protect against a small range of the thousands of different strains of the flu out there.

yes it's a good idea as flu keeps more kids out of school than snow.IT don't mean that kids won't
get the flu.this last super virus was the worse in years.the shot didn't prevent people from getting it.

I think it's a waste of the taxpayers money. Let the parents of the children decide. With all of the potential issues that are facing vaccinations in general (such as the suspected link to Autism), it amazes me that the government would mandate that when there are still major concerns about the content of the vaccines. Let the parents, who should have the the child's best interests in mind, make that decision.

While I understand the concern by the CDC in trying to protect the public, the flip side is that how many strains of the flu are actually going to be prevented? Last year, the shot didn't help that much. I'm not so sure it's doing any better this year.

i don't know. I'm not a doctor so I can't make informed decisions on whether that is necessary but I do agree with the first answer. people who are 17 or 18 up through forties generally have good immune systems... but I think it can go either way.
