Has anyone had, or know someone who has had, a micro maze heart operation for atrial fibrillation, please?

Having seemingly been fobbed off by my GP and the NHS for about 5 years, I want to find out the quickest way to undergo this treatment if it's suitable.

I've been taking a beta-blocker and anticoagulant daily following a mini-stroke (TIA) caused by idiopathic atrial fibrillation and would prefer to be less restricted in avoiding various foods, etc. which I use to enjoy, so I'd like to follow this up.

I need to find out the cost, length of treatment, and where I can go to have this done privately. I am prepared to travel to somewhere like S. Africa, India, Thailand, etc. if I can afford it. I don't have private insurance.

I know some years ago, many dissatisfied NHS patients were having operations abroad, but my attempts to find out more haven't been successful. Thanks.

I doubt anyone on yahoo can help with this. Try the heart surgery forum http://www.hsforum.com/forum/

Wow, Im sorry to hear of this, wish I could help

Haven't heard of this operation. Have had two episodes of atrial fibrillation and both times underwent a cardioversion. Basically, my heart was shocked back into its correct rythmn.
Worked both times. There was a four year gap between the two episodes.
