Can you assess atrial fibrillation without a cardiac monitor? How?

Auscultation (using a stethoscope) will detect the arrhythmia as well.

The classical way of describing an atrial fibillation is -- irregularly irregular pulse/heart beat.
Your pulse would be very irregular.
