Is it OK to exercise (aerobic) with Atrial Fibrillation? |
I am a 45 year old male. This is definitely a question for your doctor. You must have your history and physical exam by your M.D. At 45 especially ,walking is always a good start before tackling an exercise regiment. But first you must seek a doctor's opinion. That is a tough question to answer. You should seek your doctor's medical advice, or a exercise stress test. This way you can duplicate what your bodies response to exercise will be in a controlled medical setting. You can observe any EKG changes, ischemia (lack of oxygen to heart muscle) and ventilatory response. These tests can also tell you what intensity is safe for you. Most insurance companies will cover high percent, if not all of test, based on your AF condition. |
