Cholesterol Level?

I suffer from Atrial Fibrillation (Irregular heart beats). My latest Cholesterol Level reads 4.7 My doctor said this level is fine, but I cannot see it. I thought much less level is more appropriate for my conditions.
Feed back from people in similuar circumstances would greatly be appreciated.

Gee, this measurement seems to be on a different scale than I've been exposed to. Cholesterol levels are measured in milligrams (mg) of cholesterol per deciliter (dL) of blood. To interpret your test results, use these general guidelines.

Total cholesterol
Below 200 mg/dL Desirable
200-239 mg/dL Borderline high
240 mg/dL and above High

Listen to your doctor, he knows what is right and what is wrong, and the ratio of HDL/LDL is far more important.

Also, if you have atrial Fibrulation You sould be on a blood thinner like warfarin, and maybe a drug like amiodarone, and metoprolol. Some Dr.s don't like long term Amiodarone, but if I go off it, in about 3-4 months, I flip into Atrial Fib and feel like a guppy out of water.

Are you sure that is your cholesterol level? It sounds more like a potassium level. If your doctor says your cholesterol is fine, then why question him? The total cholesterol doesn't tell the whole story. If your bad cholesterol is within normal limits and your good cholesterol is high enough, with low triglycerides, that's all that matters. Your condition is a conductive problem. It's not necessarily a problem with blocked arteries. Therefore, your cholesterol level can be higher than someone who has coronary vascular disease, and it will still be ok for you.

If you think your cholesterol is too high, cut down the fats and simple sugars in your diet. Cut out the trans fats. Eat whole grains like oatmeal every day. Get out and walk and exercize at least 5 times a week. Can't hurt!! :)
