Are these possible symptons of athlete's foot?

Hi,

My sister has been suffering these toes-itchiness for several months now, but just recently, when I "borrowed" a pair of her I-didn't-know-then dirty socks, several of my toes begin to suffer a strange itchiness. But this only happens when my toes are extremely hot, as if my foot is boiling internally.

When the itches appear, it would feel as if it's running back and forth between the toes, and sometimes, as if I'm being needled; then it goes back to the other way and forth again.

My sister had visited the doctor about two times before, but they gave her these cream that barely worked (medication, too).

And now, I'm beginning to suffer it, and it's really irritating, since there's no way for it to stop unless I leave it out in the freezing cold or soak it in ice =X. Are these likely symptons of athlete's foot, and if yes, what are some recommended ways to help it?

Thanks for any vaulable information. =]

YES! It is athlete's foot. And it's very hard to get it under control once you have it. Plus it will recur when your feet don't get enough dry air. Start now applying an over the counter athelete foot medication and a good foot powder or just plain baking soda for inside your socks and shoes. After your medicate your feet, which you should do several times a day after washing them good, wear cotton socks over them. Wear shoes that allow for the air to circulate until your feet get better. Good luck!

Hi, From what you described.. it could very well be athletes foot, espiecially if its peeling. The burning and itching you typed about definetly you have athletes foot. The one detail that really convinced me that it was athletes foot , is when you said , your feet starting to feel this after you shared socks with your sister- that is the number one way to get athletes foot, so my advice would be to maybe use your sisters cream, and to visit your doctor like your sister did because you might not think its serious enough but it could lead to something pretty bad. Good Luck!

there are OTC sprays that contain tolanaftate that are effective...look in your drug store..spray everyday for a month and it should go away.....ps. if you see tracks on your feet as if something is tunneling, you have hookworm in your feet....esp if you walk barefoot outside
