you might want to try an over the counter fungal ointment and stay away from socks that do not contain cotton. Oh and try not to wear shoes without socks and closed toe shoes.

Sure you can get rid of athlete's foot. There are several good otc treatments. Ask your pharmacist?

Yes, you can get rid of it but you must be consistent and persistent.
1. clean the feet thoroughly with soap esp between the toes.
2. dry the feet thoroughly esp between the toes.
3. apply a thin layer of Clotrimazole 1% cream or Miconazole 2% cream to the entire foot.
4. do this at least twice a day and wear Cotton socks to abbsorb sweat.
5. You must do this for at least 7 to 10 days.
Remember.....Keep the feet clean and dry, keep the clotrimazole cream on your feet.

Athlete's foot is caused by a fungus, not a parasite or bacteria. Even though you may cure it by applying a topical ointment (there are many available, without a prescription), it can still come back again & again.

It's spread by contact with infected sufaces, such as shower floors, and the floors surrounding swimming pools and saunas or hot tubs. In order to prevent reoccurence, you have to sterilize the surfaces you've walked on. You can't sterilize public areas, obviously, but you ought to sterilize your own shower/bathtub. Athlete's foot fungus can still linger there, even after repeated showers or baths.

Just get a bottle of ordinary (laundry) bleach. Put the "stopper" in the drain, and fill the tub about one-third full of warm water. Pour in about 4 ounces of bleach, and allow it to sit for an hour or so. Then just drain the tub, and rinse with fresh water...the fungus will be eradicated.

This won't prevent re-infection, if you are exposed outside your home, but it will help to keep you safe at home.
