Is it ok to soak your feet in diluted Lysol to treat athlete's foot? |
I went to my doctor on Wednesday and asked him what I should do for my athlete's foot. I showed it to him and he said, "This is going to sound crazy but soak you feet in a small tub of water for 10 to 15 minutes with 3 to 4 tablespoons of concentrated Lysol mixed in it." I tryed it for the first time tonight and when I dryed my feet it felt like the tops of them were on fire! So I waited a couple minutes till I couldn't stand it any longer and washed my feet off with soap and water then dryed them really good and sprayed between my toes with the powder spray and had to put some after burn on the tops of them. Is it ok to do this again or is my doctor nuts? Step 1 - find a new doctor before he kills you I think your doctor is insane. You don't use household cleaning products to treat an infection on the skin of your feet. I would have to suggest going to a dermatologist for that, that way they can give you antibiotics or a medicated cream or something. But, I could be wrong. athlete's foot is a fungal infection, and last time I looked at the lysol bottle, I don't remember anything on it saying it is antifungal. I agree with the girl that says your doctor is insane. I don't know if this is sound medical advice or if your doctor has lost his mind but what I do know is that if I felt uncomfortable with any treatment I'd seek a second opinion and in the mean time stick with over the counter fungal treatments like tenactin. He got it all wrong. Its the shoes, not your feet that gets soaked in lysol. It KILLS the germs , fungus etc in the shoes. Your doctor is a quack and for telling you to use lysol on your body to treat a fungal infection! :o |
