What is the absolute best way to get rid of athlete's foot for good?

my friend only has it on one foot and she has had it on that foot for years. i think that maybe she tried on the wrong shoe. but she doesn't have burning and it rarely itches but its really rough, dry and scaley and there is so much dead skin. It just looks bad. She basically has to soak her foot in baby oil to get rid of the dryness and cracks. Also her big toe on that particular foot is turning yellowish brownish in the corner.

Your friend needs to get to a MD to be treated, after having this so called "athletes foot" fungus for such along time. It's unusual, after using the proper,anti-fungal medications for the prescribed length of treatment of 7 days, and she can't get rid of it. So it's either not athletes foot,or she's not following directions. Take care. SW RNP

soak your feet in tea,& take iron

Pee on your feet in the shower...Military men have been udoing this for years

use an athlete foot remedy, disinfect the shower floor after each shower, soak feet in epsom salt for about 30 min. a day.

I have heard about the peeing on your feet in the shower also, and that it works.

Your friend could also try what my brother did to get rid of his really bad athlete's foot ~ get rid of all synthetic socks, wear ONLY 100 per cent pure cottton. Wear only leather shoes. Make sure the feet are completely dry before putting on footwear (he uses a hair dryer). Avoid oil, because it does not provide the right kind of moisture for the foot. Instead, use small amounts of paw paw ointment or vitamin e cream to help the feet heal, but use them only at night and wash them off thoroughly each day.

He has had good results using these methods.

Athlete's foot is usually caused by one of several types of fungal infection, and all respond to slightly different treatments. Your friend may have to try several methods before she finds success.

If she really cannot control it using home remedies, she may be able to get an anti-fungal treatment from the doc. Something like Canesten cream may help eradicate the fungus for good.

Best wishes and good luck with this! :-)
