Can you get athlete's foot if you are not an athlete? I play chess and my feet still itch.? Athlete's Foot is just a common nickname for tinea pedis, or tinea fungus infection of the foot. If it's on the body, we call it Ringworm (because it makes expanding areas like rings, but it's no worm, same fungus.) If you have jock itch, it's tinea cruris (tinea of the crotch, literally.) Yes you sure can. Its just the term used because the most commen ones to get it are athletes because the most commen cause is your feet sweating a lot and they are the ones with the sweatiest feet...usually. But anyone can get it |
