Peeling skin?

my son is 4 yrs old and he has for a while had the end of his fingers peeling skin now ive started getting it the last couple of days and i'm worrying about what it is also is it anything to do with athlete's foot cuz my partners got it

It's sometimes normal specially for a growing child. Must be just because his skin is growing and stretching. If you have any more concerns, you may take him to a doctor. Good Luck!

See a doctor, please.

I don't want to scare you but I have heard of a disorder that has simptoms including peeling fingers in children. Please have him checked out. I really wish I could remember the disorder. You might wanna watch dicovery health channel in case they talk about it again. I hope all is well and that there is nothing wrong.

Peeling skin is typically a temporary problem and not a health concern. Peeling skin as you describe can have many causes, including:

Excessive perspiration such as due to tight gloves or boots.

Skin infections, such as a staph infection, or some viral infections. In such cases, peeling usually improves within one to two weeks.

Side effect of certain medications that cause skin drying, such as acne medications. This is usually the case if the peeling started after you began taking the medication.

Reaction to a medication, such as chemotherapy drugs or oral retinoids.
Peeling skin may also be due to excessive sun exposure resulting in sunburn.

Consult your doctor if you have extensive or unexplained skin peeling or if peeling continues for more than a couple of weeks.

Good luck!
