Can a bee sting lead to infection? |
Stepped on a bee last week. I removed the stinger and put baking soda paste on it to stop the pain. Now that toe gets VERY itchy top and bottom. I've scratched it and made it hurt. Now I am trying Tinactin (for Athlete's foot) on it but it is still itchy. It drives me crazy at night. I've stepped on plenty of bees in my life with no problems. Or had them hit me while on my motorcycle. So, not an allergy. Might be totally unrelated to the bee sting anyway. If you scratch it, infection possibly could set in. In fact, it's even possible for infection to set in with the sting since the skin has been punctured. But it's not as likely. Possibly. your'e prolly allergic to bee stings. Yes it could. You are probably allergic ,try taking some Benadrile before you go to bed. I don't know if your toe is infected or not- if it's itching, it's possible you were *mildly* allergic. But bee stings CAN get infected, as can any open wound. Keep it clean. I wouldn't do Tinactin... that's for fungus, and this isn't fungus. Try some neosporin, and if it swells up or gets any worse, go see your doctor. Try "anti-itch" or go to a shoppers drugmart to buy something that has lidocaine. lidocaine will make it stop itching.(lidocaine is a type of medicine) either you're allergic or its infected. its very possible. any thing pierced or breaking the skin can cause infection. just disinfect it. and take care of it until its gone. Anything that bites/stings you can cause an infection. You don't know where they landed last. If you got bit by a snake and it isn't poisonous - the chances of infection are very high. Yes you can get infection if it keeps itchin go to doctor Tinactin is an anti fungal medication not an antibiotic. If it is warm and swollen and still red it may be infected or it may be that you didn't get out all the stinger and in that case need to get it removed by a doctor since it has been a week already. It could be itchy because it is swollen. Take something like benedryl for the itching and swelling. Might. yes, it can but to prevent it u must clean where the bee stung u. hope i helped :) it can if you don"t stop inching it A bee sting can cause infection. If the toe is infected the area will turn red and may swell up. The area will also feel hot to the touch. If it is red and spreading the infection is called cellulitis. If pus develops with swelling it would be an abscess. To me, it does not sound like you have any infection at this time. You might have a fungus but that is also unlikely unless you already have athlete's foot. It is probably just a late reaction to the toxins of the bee sting. If it gets better don't worry. If it gets worse - see your doctor. If you are diabetic see your doctor right away. yes it can, my son gets infection from them and from mosqito bites Yes a sting can lead to an infection. A wound (opening or break in the skin) can lead to infection. Tinactin is an anti fungal medication and may not help a bacterial or allergic reaction. Yes it can! try an old folks remedy but it works Great! If you have a dog or a friend that has a dog, have the dog lick it. It gets rid of any infection because a dogs mouth is full of antibodies. |
