How will atherosclerosis affect the patient鈥檚 mental or psychological outlook?


How will atherosclerosis affect the patient鈥檚 mental or psychological outlook? Will it affect body image? Lifestyle? Social life? Ability to work and/or take care of the home and family? Will it affect relationships with others? What about leisure time - will it be altered or affected?

Any sudden or chronic illness can alter one's psychological outlook. Depression is common in these situations. Depending on the severity, depression can affected any aspect of one's life.

Mental state: That varies widley from 1 individual to another,one could get very depressed and frustrated,the other could be just merry and indiffrent.

Body image:no direct affect,yet some people would prefer to always rest at home,those gain weight, others want to improve and play mild sports,so they become more fit.

Ability to work and take care of family: Physical stress must be reduced,so it depends on nature of family and work.

Relationships: Normally no
