Atherosclerosis? Heart Disease?

Hi I am doing a project on Atherosclerosis and I was wondering if anyone had any infomation on it. Thankyou so much. :)

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to point out some corrections to Assel's post.
First the lipoproteins are not deposited, They carry the cholesterol and lipids that are deposited.
Nor are these the cause of the inflammatory process, they are a part of the inflammatory process. This is in response to an injury to the endothelium. Lipids and cholesterol are not the first things deposited in these plaques.

As for the type of fats, or lipids, in these plaques, many will tell you that saturated fat is a cause, yet the the following study showed that the fatty acids found in artery clogs are 74% unsaturated, of which 41% are polyunstaurated, as well as no link between dietary saturated fat and the content of the plaques

Information can usually be found when you enter atherosclerosis and heart disease in the
google search engine. All kinds of articles will come up. Hope I have been some help. Bye

Atherosclerosis is a disease affecting arterial blood vessels. It is a chronic inflammatory response in the walls of arteries, in large part to the deposition of lipoproteins (plasma proteins that carry cholesterol and triglycerides). It is commonly referred to as a "hardening" or "furring" of the arteries. It is caused by the formation of multiple plaques within the arteries.

Pls see these web:

Atherosclerosis is the hardening of the arteries. It usually occurs in old age.
