Hi I am doing a project on Atherosclerosis and I was wondering if anyone had any infomation on it. Thankyou so much. :) I'm afraid that I'm going to have to point out some corrections to Assel's post. It is a chronic inflammatory response in the walls of arteries, in large part to the deposition of lipoproteins (plasma proteins that carry cholesterol and triglycerides). It is commonly referred to as a "hardening" or "furring" of the arteries. It is caused by the formation of multiple plaques within the arteries. Atherosclerosis is the hardening of the arteries. It usually occurs in old age. |
