What is cerebral atherosclerosis?

Atherosclerosis is a disease of blood vessels,in fact ageing blood vessels.The blood vessels are hardened due to the development fatty plaques in their walls.These plaques injure the wall of vessels & cause the blood to clot within vessels.This is the underlying mechanism in a heart attack when this condition affects vessels that supply the heart musculature.Similarly when it affects a vessel in the brain,it is called cerebral atherosclerosis,which may lead to stroke.

when the arteries in the brain start to build up plaque.
