How much cholesterol is in car exhaust fumes?

As everyone knows, atheroscleropic plaque contains cholesterol, so this must mean that cholesterol causes atherosclerosis, and therefor heart disease.
So, why did a recent study in Germany show that those people who lived near a busy road have much higher rates of atherosclerosis?

Are they breathing in cholesterol in the exhaust fumes, or perhaps, is there actually something else that causes atherosclerosis??

I'm not sure I follow your convoluted logic. Just because plaque contains cholesterol, doesn't absolutely draw one to the conclusion that cholesterol causes heart disease. In fact, it's far more likely that homocysteine is the catalyst. Many people with "high" cholesterol live long and prosperous lives. Doctors are the ones who believe cholesterol is the killer, not me.

Guess I'm not "everyone" in your example.

Nil. They would be related to carbon monoxide, or oxides of nitrogen, and sulphur.
