My doctor had me do blood work and i am wondering what all they test for?

it was ordered by my cardiologist and it was a CBC, Comp.Metabolic Panel, TSH, and T7 thyroid tests.

i am wondering mostly, when i get the results tuesday, will any of these show me what my cholesterol level is and if i may have hypothyrodism? my doc mentioned something about checking for anemia and an irregular thyroid but i really want to know my cholesterol levels since he just diagnosed me last week with coronary atherosclerosis(CAD) which is a form of heart disease and everything i am reading on it keeps mentioning cholesterol...if these do not and you know which test i need to request for cholesterol, etc. please let me know! thanks so much in advance :)

to lupita below-just in the past week, i've gone through EKGs, nuclear stress test, Echo, and was told i have chronic heart disease, so i'm sure you can understand why asking my doctor if my blood work will show me my cholesterol tuesday was the last thing on my mind...it's a general question which is fine to ask on here...i'm not asking for a diagnosis from my symptoms..simply asking if anyone knows what those tests will show me...thanks so much for taking the time to be rude.

Usually a cholesterol test will be labeled as such using the acronyms noted by the answerer above.

Another clue is that usually a cholesterol test will involve fasting. If they had you not eat or drink anything except for water or black coffee for several hours before the test, then they were likely checking cholesterol and glucose.

Another thing to consider is that sometimes the doctor intends to check something (like cholesterol) and forgets to check the box off on the lab slip. Oftentimes it's an alert patient who calls the oversight to the doctor's attention.

Other times, the doctor isn't interested in checking cholesterol because s/he already has the results of a recent cholesterol test in hand (perhaps one done while the patient was in the hospital) and there's no point in checking again for a while.

Best way to find out is to inquire politely - "Doc, how's my cholesterol doing?"

For cholesterol tests, you could check again in the 'Complete Metabolic Panel' whether there's tests with acronyms like :
HDL - high density lipoprotein
LDL - low density lipoprotein
Triglycerides - i.e. triglycerides etc. etc.
If there are, these results show your cholesterol levels. In brief, HDL = good cholesterol, LDL = bad cholesterol.
