Stem Cells & Cerebellar Ataxia?

I am a cerebellar ataxai patient and has been offered by some clinics for treatment by stem cells, but I wanna know from some one if they have transplanted, is the result is positive and perminent ?

Talk to your doctor. The clinic may be able to refer you to patients that have had it done. I would ask them for more information.

I'd be cautious about "stem cell transplants". A quick search of the medical literature revealed no controlled studies on the effectiveness of stem cell transplant in cerebellar ataxia. You really should discuss it with your physician or neurologist for submitting to any transplant.

.
Good wishes to youThese are clinical trials, most in stage one of trials. Stem cell research is still in it's infancy. I have looked a bit into this for an autoimmune disorder, but frankly, I an not at the point of sacrificing my life right now for research. I will continue looking at this, but not for the next many years

There is no definite reports available that it really helps ! It is trial and error base still ! Many people have tried steriotactic surgery for this and for Parkinson's and have got some benefits as well! But one has to live with some tolerable defect !Some have used amniotic membrane and some has used fetal brain tissue for to make this correct but results are not that encouraging ! You better ask and search Apollo groups of hospitals of Chennai and Ahmadabad both in INDIA Always YoursmE
