Is there anyone know about the illnes called 'FRIEDRICH ATAXIA' ?

a cure for it,traetment methods, consequence of the ilness etc..? thank you !

FA isn鈥檛 caused by anything a person does, and it鈥檚 not contagious. It鈥檚 a hereditary disease, caused by a defective gene that can be passed down through a family from one generation to the next. It is relatively rare, affecting 1 in 50,000 in the US, and males and females are affected equally.
As with many degenerative diseases of the nervous system, there is currently no cure or effective treatment for Friedreich's ataxia. Once the nerves are damaged, the body cannot renew them or repair them. However, many of the symptoms and complications arising from this condition can be treated to help people maintain optimal functioning as long as possible. Orthopedic problems such as foot deformities and scoliosis (abnormal curves in the spine can be corrected by a spinal fusion--fusing vertebrea together in the spine to straighten the spine) can be treated with braces or surgery. Physical therapy may prolong use of the arms and legs. In the case of heart disease, certain drugs (ACE inhibitors, diuretics and beta blockers) can decrease the workload of the heart, helping to prolong the lifespan of a person with FA.

I'm a nurse in NYC. Definition below, the big issue is that it is a progressive, congenital disorder. Not very common, both parents must carry the recessive gene. Sadly, there are supportive therapies, but no known cure. I have a niece in CA who suffers from it. I hope it is not you who has been diagnosed.
She show progressive muscle wasting and has recently gone from crutches to a wheelchair. Most victims succumb to arrest from eventual cardiac wasting. Much research, but no miracles on the near horizon. Google it.
