Astigmatism , Can I get contacts that work or not?

I have a sever case astigmatism my self and have been told that if I didnt have astigmatism I could probly get by with out glasses but at the same time the doctor's have also told me my astigmatism is to sever for contacts to work. Can you tell me what your experances have been with contacts and astigmatism?
Several years ago I was told that advances have been made and I probly can wear contacts but the doctor advised me that I was border line and now its 17 years later, My eye glasses are 3 times thicker and my most recent visit to the optimolgist told me basicly the same thing. Has any one else had the same experance and how did it work out for you. i really would like to get rid of the glasses but cant wast money on somthing that can't work

I have had seen this question ask several times and in all depends on the eye doctor. If they are willing to take the time as well as the risk of having to order a second perscriptopn if the first ones do not work out.
it is VERY common for a eye doctor to say those words simpley so if it don't work out you wel fell compiled to soak up the cost if they don't work out

well i have astigmatism and i wear contacts i guess it depends on how bad it is

I used to wear Toric contact lenses. They took a little getting used to - I have a hard time even putting eye drops in - but once I did get used to them they worked just fine.I'd get another opinion before giving up.

What amount of astigmatism do you have? I can't tell you if you can wear contact lenses without knowing your exact prescription.

Most prescriptions can be corrected. You may only be able to have custom-made lenses, possibly just the hard type, but I'm sure there is something on the market.

My sister and my mom have astigmatism, they have to wear different prescription contacts in each eye, but they still wear contacts.

Ask you're eye doctor about it, the contact brand Acuvue Oasis gives you less blurry moments, and Acuvue Advance was made just for people for astigmatism.

I had tried Soflens toric and purevision toric. They are very good, gives me stable vision all time.
