Astigmatism?? |
How many of you have it? a LOT of people have it. some people who dont think they have it...have it. Nothing says you'll have to wear glasses (awesome ones or not) forever. Whether you find them horrible to wear is sort of a personal thing. Over the years, eyesight generally becomes weaker but for me, my eyes are stronger than they were five years ago. Having an astigmatism simply means that ur eye is refracting the light it takes inside in a different manner. I have one, & the actual shape of ur eyeball is more like a football rather then round, so it takes in light differently. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this is with glasses due to the fact that u will always have a constant "blur" that affects your vision, however they do make contacts now that are for people with this problem, & recently laser surgery can correct this too, altho I'm not sure about the success rate. Speaking from personal experience....besides the fact that I am near-sited as well, I find that if I'm on the computer or reading & go to look up at anything really that's when I notice the astigmatism. Even when I am driving mainly at night, I notice that the words have a slight blurry haze above them which makes it hard to read. So glasses are required. But I feel your pain, & as far as wearing glasses...now-a-days they have so many neat & sexy glasses to choose from so no worries! Look on the bright side, you can look sexy & smart! But yeah, I didn't know that anything was wrong with my vision until I went & got an eye exam after I got health insurance..go figure! But when I put my glasses on it was like a whole new world!!!! I know what you mean about how now you see how much clearer and sharper things can be - I felt the same way. I remember driving down the highway with my mom (I was 10 years old at the time) and I kept pointing out things I had never noticed before. |
