Is my astigmatism that bad? And am I able to wear regular contacts with this prescription? |
My right eye has astigmatism of -.75 cylinder 020 axis dia 14.5 Is my astigmatism good enough so I can wear normal contacts? I've tried torics and they're extremely uncomfortable and sometimes they blur my vision. The normal contact in my left eye feels very comfortable though, there's a small amount of astigmatism in my left eye but i'm able to wear normal contacts with ease. Can I do this with my right eye? You might be able to. Ask your doctor. Some doctors will fit you in a regular lens (shperical) that is a little thicker and can "mask" the astigmatism. Your astigmatism is not that bad and you may be able to get clear vision without a toric lens. IT is possible. It might not have the acuity that the other lense has in oyour other eye, but it might be a good trade off for comfort, and it would not rotate and blur out like the toric lense. O^O Keep in mind that you will do no harm to your eye just because you do not wear the correct astigmatic power. A fundamental question needs to be answered. With BOTH eyes open, do see comfortably? Whether you will see comfortably depends upon your unique characteristics. Sure, if you compare the vision between the eyes by alternately covering each eye, you may notice a difference. Under normal circumstances people just don't spend a lot of time covering their eyes. I've never noticed people at a party doing it. The blur caused by your described astigmatism, might be diminished with the use of an aspheric lens design, but even that may not be necessary. Keep your head up, both eyes open and go ahead and try the "normal" contact lens in your right eye. It just depends on what you feel more comfortable with. The astigmatism is not that bad. 75 the lowest axis that they make...so you could more than likely wear normal contacts. the other answers are excellent, but i want to add a little: |
